News Story: Malaysian police nab 290 foreigners in latest counter-terror operation

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian police rounded up some 290 foreigners in its latest anti-terror raids ahead of the Southeast Asian Games, but none of them has terrorism links, local media reported Thursday.

The foreigners, mainly from Yemen, Pakistan, Syria, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Palestine and Sudan including students, were detained in the country's digital hub of Cyberjaya during the operations on Wednesday night and early Thursday, state news agency Bernama reported.

Police's counter-terrorism head Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said those arrested undergone screening process at Sepang police headquarters, but none of them were found to have links to terrorist activities.
