News Story: Two IS secret militant links killed in PH

Philippine police officials said security forces on Saturday killed a foreign national and his female companion who were suspected of being connected to a militant group supporting Islamic State.

Initially identified as Abu Naila, he is believed to be Pakistani. Naila was killed by team of soldiers and police agents when he resisted arrest and attempted to throw a grenade during a raid in Barangay Daliao in Maasim of Sarangani province, Police regional director Chief Superintendent Cedrick Train said.

“Officers were forced to fire at the suspects when the grenade was lobbed at them,” Train said.
