News Story: Duterte admin urged to file protest against both US-China

Kabayan Representative Harry Roque urged the government to file protests against China and the United States for the recent incident involving “well within the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone.”

Roque calls out to President Rodrigo Duterte to “urgently consider the termination of the Visiting Forces Agreement and the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement in order to protect the territorial integrity of the Philippines.”

“By abandoning those agreements, we can adopt a position of neutrality, following the footsteps of countries such as Switzerland,” he said.

The move followed the recent incident the US underwater drone just 50 nautical miles off Subic Bay was seized by Chinese coast guard.
