President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday has set certain conditions in order to raise the South China Sea (also known as West Philippines’) dispute with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their expected meeting on Thursday morning.
Duterte mentioned that it would only be after Xi’s initiative that he would respond as regards the two country’s overlapping claims in the disputed waters.
“If he mentions it in passing, and I will just say, ‘Mr. President I came here for a visit. I would not want to make hard imposition,” Duterte explained.
