More than 200 firms, research facilities and training centres will attend today’s DCNS Innovation Seminar in Fremantle.
Selected in April by the Turnbull Government, DCNS is the preferred international partner for the design of 12 Future Submarines for the Royal Australian Navy.
The seminar is an opportunity for potential industrial and science and technology contributors to become informed about the innovation environment DCNS has proposed for the Future Submarine Project.
It is the third such event for DCNS after two well attended seminars in Melbourne and Adelaide. DCNS has identified over 60 West Australian suppliers that could form part of the supply chain to build the submarines and also maintain them close to their home port at HMAS Stirling in Rockingham.
“DCNS is now building the support network in Australia so that we can develop a sovereign industrial capability in submarine technology in coming years,” said Sean Costello, CEO, DCNS Australia.
“Western Australian businesses stand to benefit from the Future Submarine project itself and also from the forward development of the knowledge attained into new and related industries,” he said.
Partnering with DCNS for this event is the Western Australian Department of Commerce.
