Air Force will take delivery of nine new Adacel MaxSim Part-Task Trainers (PTTs) by the end of September 2015. The PTTs will enhance the established training capability located at the RAAF School of Air Traffic Control (SATC) based at RAAF Base East Sale.

The new PTTs will be deployed at each airfield controlled by RAAF ATC officers including civil/military airports such as Williamtown (Newcastle), Darwin and Townsville. They will serve as both tower and radar simulators and will provide RAAF ATC detachments with a site-specific environment for induction and refresher training.

The SATC will further enhance its training capabilityby updating three full immersion simulators to the latest generation laser projectors, providing increased visual acuity through improved brightness, contrast and color rendering by the new projectors. ATC simulators have proven to be very effective in developing higher proficiency and accelerating the learning process of controllers during their course of study and ongoing training.

These advanced systems continue to provide ATC students with realistic hands-on practice to reinforce learning the advanced skills required to be a competent controller.
