While admitting that the Airbus A400M Atlas cargo plane is generally better than Xian Aircraft Industrial Corporation's Y-20, China's Global Times on July 15 claimed that the Y-20 has an advantage that the Airbus plane does not — namely, that it is still in development.
Observing its performance at the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK, held between July 14-20, Global Times described the A400M as an outstanding tactical cargo plane with the ability to bear two AH-64 Apache attack helicopters or one Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma Mk II helicopter. It can also transport a M109A6 artillery system, three M113 armored personnel carriers or 120 soldiers to the battlefield.
