Taiwan will continue to seek participation in the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), the world's largest international maritime warfare exercise, as it seeks closer military cooperation with the United States, a military official said.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Thursday that Taiwan will continue to express its intention to participate in the US-led biennial exercises.
RIMPAC 2014 began on June 26 and runs through Aug. 1 in and around Hawaii. This year's exercise marks the first time in which China has actively participated.
