Brunei: Commander RBAF Attended the Shangri La Dialogue


SINGAPORE, Sunday 1 June 2014 - The Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah  attended the 13th the Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) in Singapore.

The SLD is an annual forum where top government officials, defence ministers and military chiefs the Asia-Pacific converge to engage in dialogue and discuss issues of emerging security trends affecting the region.

Plenary sessions on Major Power Perspectives on Peace and Security and Ensuring Agile Conflict Management in the Asia Pacific were two of the issues deliberated and later discussed this year.

Exchanges of views have become increasingly open and candid; all are aimed at building confidence between countries. On the sidelines of the SLD, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces also had bilateral meetings with the Military Chiefs of Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. This year’s SLD began on 30 May 2014 with a Key Note Address by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
