Singapore, October 31, 2012 – Embraer Defense and Security will participate in the 5th Indo Defence Expo and Forum which will be held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia from November 7-10.
Embraer Defense and Security will promote its full line of integrated solutions at the event. This includes state-of-the art radar technologies, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), advanced information and communications systems as well as military aircraft such as the KC-390 medium lift military transport jet that is currently in development, the company’s range of VIP transportation jets, and the A-29 Super Tucano light-attack aircraft, of which 16 units have been ordered by the Indonesian Armed Forces.

In Indonesia, Embraer Defense and Security has signed agreements with the Ministry of Defense to provide the Indonesian Air Force (IAF) with 16 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft. These aircraft were purchased by the IAF as part of the country’s equipment modernization program. The first four units were delivered to the Indonesian Air Force in a ceremony in Brazil, in August 2012. This was followed soon after by their inauguration at the Malang Air Base in Indonesia, in September 2012. Indonesia’s Air Force is the first customer for the Super Tucano in Asia Pacific.
In Asia Pacific, Thailand’s Royal Navy and Army operate a fleet of four ERJ135 jets configured for the transport of authorities, as do the Indian Air Force and Indian Border Security Force, which operate five Legacy jets. Embraer Defense and Security has also collaborated with India’s Defense Research and Development Office (DRDO) to customize three Aerial Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platforms, based on the company’s proven ERJ145 jet, which are to be assembled with indigenous advanced electronic systems developed by the DRDO, under the coordination of the country’s Centre for Air Borne Systems (CABS). The government of Pakistan operates four Phenom 100 executive jets for authorities transportation.
