Special Representative and Policy Coordinator for Burma Derek Mitchell will travel to Burma March 11-17. While there, he plans to meet with senior Burmese government officials in Nay Pyi Taw to discuss developments in Burma, including the upcoming April 1 Parliamentary by-elections, as well as U.S. policy initiatives to recognize recent reforms and encourage further progress. He will also travel to Rangoon and Mandalay to meet with a broad spectrum of society, including civil society and private sector stakeholders.
Ambassador Mitchell, in his role as Special Representative and Policy Coordinator for Burma, visits Burma frequently to build on our ongoing principled engagement.
