YOKOSUKA, Japan - Annual Exercise 2011 (AE11), the bilateral maritime field training exercise involving Japan Maritime Self Defense Forces (JMSDF) and United States military forces, will be conducted from Oct. 27 to Nov. 4.
Units from the U.S. Navy will conduct training with their JMSDF counterparts at Kyushu, Okinawa, and in the waters surrounding Japan.
The ANNUAL Exercise series continues to be the premier training exercise to increase interoperability between the USN and the JMSDF.
The purpose of AE11 is to increase the defensive readiness of Japanese and American forces through training in air and sea operations, and to improve interoperability between the two countries' forces
