News Story: China maintaining strategic ambiguity

MANILA, Philippines - A “strategic ambiguity” seems to be working in favor of China amid calls for it to clarify its claims over the South China Sea.

During a forum on the South China Sea yesterday at the Manila Polo Club in Makati participated in by ASEAN member states, experts said China is putting itself on the defensive and its strategic ambiguity shows Beijing is not clear about its claim and policy.

Claimants have demanded China, which is opposed to the internationalization of the issue, to clarify its position and claim.
