AUS: HMAS Success Returns Home

Royal Australian Navy ship, HMAS Success, is currently on her way home from Singapore following conversion works undertaken by Singapore Technology Marine (ST Marine) constructing a double hull inside the ship, a requirement by the International Maritime Organisation for environmental protection against oil spills.

The work was completed between December 2010 and April 2011. The conversion period presented many challenges and opportunities to the crew of Success. However, Commanding Officer HMAS Success, Commander Ainsley Morthope praises his crew’s efforts. “They showed great focus and determination throughout this time, despite the challenges they faced, which is a tribute to their professionalism,” he said.

These sentiments were shared by ST Marine when one of its managers presented Commander Morthorpe with a certificate in appreciation of the support the officers and crew provided to ST Marine workers during the conversion.

The crew also took time out to enjoy Singapore, visiting tourist attractions and partaking in social activities, including celebrating Christmas and Australia Day.
