Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt M. Campbell will travel to Japan, Mongolia, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) March 8-13, 2011.
In Tokyo, March 9-10, Assistant Secretary Campbell and Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs Chip Gregson will meet with senior Japanese officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense to discuss a full range of issues related to the U.S.-Japan alliance.
On March 10, Assistant Secretary Campbell and Assistant Secretary Gregson will arrive in Ulaanbaatar to lead the U.S. delegation for the Annual Bilateral Consultations with Mongolia. This is an important opportunity to exchange views with Mongolian government officials on topics, including peacekeeping efforts, regional security, and the commercial environment.
Assistant Secretary Campbell arrives in Seoul on March 12 and will meet with senior officials as part of ongoing consultations with our ally.
He will return to Washington on March 13.
