News Story: Two Singaporeans arrested for terrorism-related activities

Hanoi (VNA) – Singaporean police have arrested one man and a woman for for terrorism-related activities, according to the Government of Singapore on September 7.

The man arrested was identified as Imran Kassim, 34. The country’s Ministry of Home Affairs said he had tried to make his way to Syria to join Islamic State fighters at least twice, and had prepared to attack members of the Singaporean armed forces.

More recently, he had intended to join militants who seized control of Marawi city in southern Philippines this year. Imran’s arrest came after police received information from “people close to him”.
