Russia calls on North Korea to scrap nuclear and missile programs and to return to non-proliferation regime, within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said Saturday.

"The ballistic missiles, which were launched without warning from North Korea, are posing major risk to marine and air transport in the region as well as to the lives of ordinary civilians. We call on North Korean government to end the banned programs and to return to the NPT non-proliferation regime and the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] oversights, as well as to join the Chemical Weapons Convention," Nebenzya said at the UNSC session during the discussion of the adopted resolution.
