In a move to bring the Taliban to the peace talks tables, Hekmatyar Gulbuddin-led Hizb-e-Islami has started working on a new peace process strategy between government and the Taliban, the group’s top negotiator and member of its political wing Mohammad Amin Karim said Tuesday.
This comes amid a stalemate regarding peace talks between government and the Taliban.
According to Karim, Hizb-e-Islami has held discussions with political parties and the Afghan government to discuss ways to bring the Taliban to the peace talks tables.
He said the new strategy will be announced within a few weeks and in consensus with political forces in the country and government.
“It will not be like the past where political parties conducted private and unofficial talks with the Taliban inside and outside the country and then used bitter words against them in the media,” said Karim.
