MANILA, Philippines - The military’s much-awaited assessment and recommendation on martial law in Mindanao was submitted on Friday to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, the military said yesterday.
“The chief of staff (Gen. Eduardo Año) has submitted it to the secretary of national defense,” military spokesman Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said.
President Duterte has designated Lorenzana as administrator of martial law and Año as enforcer of military rule.
But the military is keeping the contents of the martial law report under wraps. Duterte earlier said that report would be the basis for his decision on whether to lift or extend the implementation of martial law in Mindanao.
