Afghan forces repel Taliban attack in eastern province, 45 attackers killed
PARON, Afghanistan, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces repelled a Taliban attack in the country's eastern province of Nuristan, killing at least 45 militants, including their seven commanders, the defense ministry said on Thursday.
"Hundreds of Taliban insurgents attacked Want Waygal district of Nuristan province on Wednesday night, which faced with the fierce resistance of security forces," the ministry said, adding 45 militants were killed and 50 others wounded after their positions targeted by airstrikes.

Airstrike kills 22 insurgents in northern Afghanistan
KABUL, July 27 (Xinhua) -- As many as 22 armed insurgents have been confirmed dead after army helicopters targeted Taliban oppositions in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province, Bakhtar news agency reported on Thursday.
