SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, June 16 (Xinhua) -- A policeman was killed and another wounded after militants attacked them in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said Friday.
The police party was attacked late Thursday evening in Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
"Late last evening militants attacked a police party at Hyderpora locality here," a police official told Xinhua.
"The attack wounded two policemen, who were immediately removed to army's base hospital. However, of the wounded policemen, one succumbed to his wounds during the night."
The attack took place about three km away from Srinagar international airport.
Following the attack police issued an alert in the region.
