TOKYO (Kyodo) -- A U.S. Global Hawk surveillance drone arrived Monday at the Yokota Air Base in Tokyo for deployment until October, U.S. Forces Japan said.
It was temporarily deployed to avoid typhoons that often strike its home base of Guam during the summer. The U.S. military deployed Global Hawks at its Misawa Air Base in the northeastern prefecture of Aomori in 2014 and 2015 on a temporary basis.
