News Story: Thailand steps up security measures after bombings in Bangkok

BANGKOK, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered beefing up security measures at and around government premises throughout the capital, said government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd on Tuesday.

A bomb explosion hit the army's Phra Mongkutklao hospital on Monday, which slightly injured more than 20 people and seriously wounded a few others, following a blast outside the National Theater earlier in May and another blast outside the former lottery office in April.

"The prime minister emphasized on security issues. He asked related government units to carefully check persons entering government buildings, install enough lighting and adjust the angel of view of CCTV cameras properly," Sansern said during a press conference.

The prime minister also asked people to inform officers when they find suspicious persons, he added.
