TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan protested to North Korea on Saturday over the country's latest ballistic missile launch the same day, the Japanese government's top spokesman said.

"This ballistic missile launch by North Korea is in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions...We immediately lodged a stern protest to North Korea through the embassy in Beijing," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told an impromptu press conference.
