News Story: IS group claims responsibility for Kabul blast near U.S. embassy

KABUL, May 3 (Xinhua) -- The local affiliate of the Islamic State (IS) group on Wednesday carried out a suicide car bombing at a U.S. military convoy in Afghanistan's capital that killed eight Afghan civilians.

The IS-linked "Amaq" news website has claimed in an online Arabic language statement the attack which also injured 27 others including three service members of the NATO-led Resolute Support.

Three cars, including one armored military vehicle, were destroyed by the blast in the area where the U.S. embassy and Afghan Supreme Court office are located.
