A group of Taliban militants attacked security forces’ outposts in Burka district in Baghlan province at mid-night on Thursday, security sources confirmed on Friday.
The sources said the Taliban has arrived close to the district governor’s office and heavy clashes are ongoing between government forces and the militants.
Sources have said that the Taliban fighters have entered the Baghlan district through Takhar and Kunduz provinces.
Reinforcements have arrived at the area to help government forces in the district.
The sources said that at least 30 Taliban militants were killed in the battle.
According to the sources, up to 20 Afghan soldiers were killed or wounded in the clashes.
