DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The intervention of China is needed to ease the increasing tension with North Korea’s nuclear warhead buildup, President Duterte said yesterday.
“Our greatest chance of getting some dialogue with America and North Korea would be through the intercession of China,” the President told reporters after touring one of the Chinese Navy ships docked at the Sasa Wharf for a four-day goodwill visit.
Duterte said he explained to US President Donald Trump, who called him over the weekend, that there is no way North Korea President Kim Jong-un can be scared with firepower.
