In an escalation of tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Afghan and Pakistani border forces clashed in Spin Boldak district in southern Kandahar province on Friday morning, police officials said.
Kandahar police spokesman Zia Durani told TOLOnews that the clash started at around 4am on Friday morning when Pakistani border forces entered the Afghan territory.
According to him, the two sides agreed on a ceasefire after hours of clashes.
Two armored vehicles belonged to Pakistani forces were destroyed in the fighting, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Kandahar Police Chief Lieutenant Gen. Abdul Raziq said four border police forces were killed and 14 others were wounded in the clash along the Durand Line.
He said 23 civilians were also wounded in the fighting.
