MANILA, Philippines — A few days after US President Donald Trump's call, President Rodrigo Duterte received a phone call from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In their 26-minute phone call, the two leaders discussed regional issues and how some of these can be addressed.
"For his part, President Duterte shared Philippine positions on several salient issues, especially on developments in the Korean Peninsula, and he referred to China's important role in promoting peace on the Korean Peninsula," the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement released Wednesday evening.
Duterte also shared the outcomes of the recently concluded 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Manila.
