News Story: Public To Decide About Fate Of Durand Line

The Durand Line is Afghanistan's de facto border with Pakistan
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shekib Mustaghni, said on Wednesday at a press conference that any decision on the Durand Line will need to be made by the people living on both sides of the Afghanistan-Pakistan de facto border.

He said the fate of the Durand Line was not brought up during the recent meeting between Afghanistan and Pakistan in London.

Mustaghni said Pakistani military has violated the de facto border with countless incursions into Nangarhar, Kunar, Khost, Paktia, Zabul and Kandahar provinces.

He also said incursions by the Pakistani army across the Durand Line were unacceptable and the security forces and the Afghan government are ready to defend the country's sovereignty if action across the line continues.
