TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Prime Minister Shinzo Abe left Japan on Thursday for a four-day trip to Russia and Britain for one-on-one meetings with the countries' leaders on security and economic affairs.
In a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin later Thursday in Moscow, Abe is set to discuss joint economic activities on the Russian-held, Japanese-claimed islands off Japan's Hokkaido in an effort to conclude a post-World War II peace treaty.
