Vietnam, Myanmar boost military ties
Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese State and Government will create the best conditions for the country’s army to enhance coordination with the Myanmar counterpart to deepen the bilateral friendship and cooperation.
President Tran Dai Quang made the statement at a reception for Myanmar’s Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in Hanoi on March 6.
He said the ongoing visit by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing is a vivid demonstration of the sound traditional friendship between the two armies, which will help increase bilateral amity, mutual trust and understanding.
Myanmar has always been an important partner in Vietnam’s external policy, he said, adding that the bilateral political relationship has seen significant outcomes thanks to regular high-level delegation exchanges.
He highly valued the outcomes of the talks between Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and General Ngo Xuan Lich, saying the two countries’ armies have implemented effectively agreements in defense partnership.

Vietnam, Myanmar enhance defence collaboration
Hanoi (VNA) – Senior defence officials of Vietnam and Myanmar have agreed to continue bolstering defence cooperation between the two countries and making it deeper, more effective and practical in the future.
The agreement was reached during talks in Hanoi on March 6 between Defence Minister Ngo Xuan Lich and Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces Min Aung Hlaign, who is on a four-day visit to Vietnam from March 5 at the invitation of the Vietnamese Defence Minister.
At the talks, the two sides briefed each other on political, socio-economic and defence-security situation in each country, and shared experience in building the armed forces.
Noting that defence cooperation between the two countries over the past years has become one of key pillars in partnership between Vietnam and Myanmar, the officials discussed the orientations and contents for cooperation in 2017 and beyond.
