YANGON, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has rejected a resolution of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) to send a fact-finding mission to the country to investigate alleged human rights abuse by security forces against Muslims in northern Rakhine state.
"The establishment of an international fact-finding mission would do more to inflame rather than resolve the issues at this time," the Myanmar Foreign Ministry said in a statement released late Friday night.
The resolution, tabled by the European Union, was adopted without a vote at the 34th session of the HRC held in Geneva on Friday.
