NEW DELHI, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Militants Thursday fired upon police vehicles in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir and triggered a gunfight, officials said.
The attack was carried out in morning at village Kundalan-Hajipora of the Shopian district, about 58 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
"Today morning militants fired upon police vehicles here using automatic weapons," a senior police official told Xinhua. "The militants fired from an orchard, which was duly retaliated but in ensuing exchange of fire, no one was injured or killed on either side."
According to police, the vehicles were on a routine patrol in the area.
