Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia police said on March 13 they arrested seven people for suspected links to the Islamic State (IS) militant group during a counter-terrorism operation from March 8-12 in Sabah and Selangor states.
Malaysian Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said the suspects include two Malaysians and five Filipinos.
Two of the Philippine suspects, aged 27 and 18, were detained on suspicion of raising funds for two Malaysians, Mahmud Ahmad and Mohamad Joraimee, who joined up with IS in the southern Philippines in 2014.
