News Story: Indonesia vows to help facilitate settlement of conflict in Sri Lanka

JAKARTA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government has pledged to take parts in efforts to facilitate post-conflict settlement in Sri Lanka, a government minister said on Wednesday.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo met with his Sri Lankan counterpart Maithripala Sirisena at the State Palace, saying that Indonesia is ready to help smooth the ongoing reconciliation between the Sri Lankan government and former Tamil rebel, according to Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

Minister Retno said Indonesia has the experience in peacefully terminating a 29-year conflict with rebels in Aceh province in the northern tip of Sumatra Island 12 years ago.
