MANILA, Philippines — The National Democratic Front of the Philippines is set to release six military and police personnel that rebels are holding as prisoners of war.
Joaquin Jacinto, spokesperson of NDFP-Mindanao, said in a statement released Thursday that they and the New People's Army are acting on the call of the Communist Party of the Philippines to release captives to help bring about talks towards a bilateral ceasefire and socioeconomic reforms.
"These releases, that will be promptly disclosed soon by the various regions, shall be carried out as a gesture of goodwill for the resumption of the peace talks," Jacinto.
