News Story: Duterte approves mandatory ROTC for Senior High students

Department of National Defense’s (DND) proposed bill reviving mandatory Reserved Officers Training Course (ROTC) for Senior High Schools gets approval of President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday.

“PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) has approved the filing of the DND bill for the return of mandatory ROTC,” DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana told Rappler in a text message.

Before it can be implemented, the bill still has to be submitted to Congress, deliberated on by lawmakers, and passed as an amendment to the Republic Act No 7077 or the Citizen Armed Forces of the Philippines Reservist Act.
