News Story: Construction plans for U.S. base in Okinawa firmly set in concrete

NAGO, Okinawa -- Following the government's decision to resume construction work on the U.S. Marine Corps' new base here, concrete blocks -- designed to secure anti-pollution membrane filters -- could be placed into the sea at the site as early as next week.

The relevant area in the ocean has already been closed off with floats since the end of 2016, but the insertion of concrete blocks will mark the start of serious construction work.
