News Story: Rody wants Abu Sayyaf eliminated

By John Unson

MANILA, Philippines – In his first joint command conference with the military and the police this year, President Duterte on Friday said he wanted the terror group Abu Sayyaf eliminated.

Duterte voiced his wish – or marching orders – in Malacañang before the chiefs and ranking officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

“Idiniin din ng Presidente na ‘yung kanyang commitment to end the ASG, ‘yung Abu Sayyaf Group (The President stressed his commitment to end the ASG, the Abu Sayyaf Group),” presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said in an interview over Radyo ng Bayan.

At the same time, Duterte also called on the military and police to guard their ranks against corruption.

Despite international criticism against the administration’s bloody war on drugs, Abella said Duterte is determined to pursue his campaign until the last pusher is put behind bars or eliminated.
