A 1 trillion yen ($8.66 billion) aid package for the Philippines from Tokyo will spread over five years, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is yet to announce it during his state visit to the country beginning on Thursday, January 12.
Asian Review news said the aid package is one of Japan’s largest directed at a single country, quoting a senior government official.
The official said the money combines official development assistance and private-sector investments, which will be directed toward infrastructure projects such as building subways and electric power systems for the country’s regional cities.
