News Story: Japanese Foreign Minister Meets Ghani To Discuss Future Cooperation

Japan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Kentaro Sonoura met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday at the Presidential Palace and welcomed the linking of Afghanistan with Central Asia and regional economic cooperation.

In a statement released by Afghan Presidential Palace Sonoura has said that Japan was ready to cooperate with Afghan government in this regard.

According to the statement Sonoura said that Japan has reached an agreement with India to extend technical cooperation in the Chabahar Port.

Sonoura said Chabahar Port was important for the trade and transit of Afghanistan.

Earlier, deputy foreign minister of Afghanistan Hekmat Khalil Karzai also met the Japanese minister. Both sides discussed various key issues.
