The Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry has recommended releasing a list of questions and answers prepared by the Cabinet Legislation Bureau over the reinterpretation of Japan's Constitution, which was approved by the Cabinet in July 2014, to allow the country to exercise the right to collective defense.
The ministry's Information Disclosure and Personal Information Protection Review Board made the recommendation in a notice dated Jan. 17, saying the document should be subject to information disclosure and thus made public.
According to the recommendation and related information, the bureau produced a list of 23 possible questions and answers on the rationale for exercising the right to collective self-defense for Diet deliberations. The list has two versions -- one approved by the bureau's deputy director-general, and another without such approval.
