Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense (MoD) Wednesday said that the Afghan National Security Forces continue to battle insurgents on multiple fronts across the country.
The security forces have planned 21 military operations to hit insurgents in their strongholds, a defense ministry spokesman Mohammad Radmanish told reporters in Kabul on Wednesday.
Paghman, Qarabagh and Surobi districts of Kabul province are among volatile areas in the country where security forces are engaging insurgents.
Battles between security forces and Taliban also continued in some strategic locations in the southern province of Helmand and suburbs of provincial capital Lashkargah.
Reports indicate that government forces are also engaging insurgents in Trinkot, the capital of Uruzgan province.
But questions remain over why the security forces continue to act in a defensive mode rather than an offensive one.
“The issue that the enemy conducted a few attacks in a number of areas was to prevent offensives. But I am sure that the enemy’s facilities will end in winter and they will be smashed,” the MoD deputy spokesman Mohammad Radmanish said.
