Official from Department of National Defense (DND) has formally announced that the Philippines is open to ‘all kinds’ of Russian military supplies – ranging from ammunition to heavy battle equipment – depending on the country’s handling and acquisition capabilities.
DND Undersecretary for Finance, Munition, Materiel and Modernization, Raymundo DV Elefante, has sent a message to the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday.
When asked if the Philippines is also interested in acquiring attack helicopters, diesel electric submarines and fighter jets from Russia, Elefante said “it depends. As long [as] we have capabilities (i.e funds and manpower) but this is still a long-term [plan].”
