Malaysian police officers have detained seven people, including four foreigners, on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities of the Daesh jihadist group, local media reported Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Seven Daesh (IS/ISIS/ISIL) suspects have been detained between November 3 and December 16, in the country's states of Malacca, Selangor, Sabah and Johor, the Star Online news website reported, citing a local police official.
Two of the foreigners are students, who have been detained within the framework of the police anti-Daesh operation, the media outlet added.
The Daesh is a Sunni militant group, which is outlawed in many other counties, including Russia. The militants currently control large areas of Syria and Iraq, and are spreading their influence to other countries, such as Malaysia and Libya.
