News Story: Army to ‘discontinue military activities’ vs NPA terrors for holiday sake

Lt. Col. Ronnie Babac, head of an Army battalion that operates in areas with heavy rebel presence, said they will ‘discontinue military activities’ to allow the communist guerrillas to celebrate the holidays with their families.

Babac said no member of his unit, the Army’s 73rd Infantry Battalion in Malita, Davao Occidental, would arrest any rebel who comes down from the hills to reunite with family for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“Take the opportunity to enjoy the holidays,” said Babac, referring to a ceasefire between the government and NPA.
