FAIZABVAD, Afghanistan, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Taliban attempts to capture Baharak district in the northern Badakhshan province have been foiled and the militants after leaving a dead body behind fled the area, district police chief Abdul Wadoud said Sunday.
"A group of Taliban fighters including some suicide bombers had planned to target Baharak district headquarters early Sunday, but police thwarted their malicious design after killing the suicide bomber on the spot," Wadoud told Xinhua.
