President Ashraf Ghani met Sharbat Gula, along with her family, at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday where he welcomed her home.
Ghani has also provided her with an apartment.
Gula, the famous green-eyed Afghan girl that graced the cover of National Geographic in 1985, arrived back in Afghanistan earlier this week following her arrest in Pakistan last month.
Ghani met Gula with her family and said that: "Our body is incomplete because some of our compatriots are refugees. The government is trying to provide facilities for the returning of refugees to complete this incomplete body."
The family of Gula also thanked Ghani for his efforts and said that "the life of Sharbat Gula represents Afghanistan's pain and sorrow and she hopes that peace and stability comes to the country."
"She also hopes that all refugees return to the country like she did," according to her family.
