One of the senior commanders of the Daesh militant group was killed in eastern Afghanistan as a result of an airstrike carried out by a US drone, local Khaama Press Agency reported on Saturday.

A number of weapons ammunition, and explosives belonging to the local Daesh supporters were reportedly destroyed by the strike.
Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, with Taliban insurgents and other extremist factions such as Daesh, outlawed in Russia and many other countries, taking advantage of the instability in the country.
